In the East African country of Madagascar, demonstrations against electricity and water outages in recent weeks have escalated into anti-government protests, with some elements of the military supporting the protesters. Following the incidents, President Andry Rajoelina dissolved the government to defuse the crisis and appointed a new prime minister to form an interim cabinet. During this period, former Prime Minister Christian Ntsay and some government members close to Rajoelina reportedly left the country for Mauritius.
